OUR PROGRAMS & PARTNERSHIPS

Our dedicated Affiliate Leaders recruit, train and place mentors in our school-and-community-based initiatives led by CARES-trained psychologists and social workers. Knowing that emotional well-being is at the core of overall well-being, our mentors and psychologists use our proprietary evidence-based curriculum to help our young ones unearth and heal their pain while embracing their given talents and boundless promise.

The Rising

Elevating Education, Expectations and Self-Esteem

Our signature research-based program is a restorative in-school effort dedicated to ensuring children in crisis are provided with consistent, trauma-healing, culturally anchored programming.

In safe spaces, our leaders help young people unearth their traumas and remove them as barriers to hope, mental well-being, critical thinking, and self-confidence.

In our Wellness Mentoring Circles, students learn to trust, dream, and make positive choices that move them toward high school graduation, higher education, workforce readiness, and leadership.

The HBCU Rising

A Campus-Public Schools STEM Program

Our program is designed to increase interest, competencies, and strengthen the pipeline of talent in the dynamic STEM fields.

The unique three-tiered model uses our proprietary curriculum. HBCU College students majoring in STEM disciplines are recruited to mentor young people in under-resourced middle-schools.

In turn, our college students are mentored by committed corporate volunteers in STEM fields who are nourished by the opportunity to serve these emerging leaders.

University for Parents

Responding to the crises that parents in financially stressed communities face, CARES launched a certificate-granting, transformational workforce-development program.

Together with 70 community partners and The Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, our curriculum guides parents in low- moderate- income communities setting them on a path toward emotional wellness and economic mobility.

We are proud that 100 percent of our graduates have found employment, started businesses, or enrolled in academic or technical programs.

Affiliate leadership

Our Affiliate Leaders Network has recruited, trained and placed more than 250,000 volunteer mentors who have served more than 350,000 young people.

We are the nation’s leader not only in the recruitment and placement, but in the retention of critically needed African American mentors.

We are proud to serve as the nation’s leading recruitment, training, and placement partner for African American mentors—supporting not only our own programs but also those of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, and other respected youth-serving organizations.

We are strengthened by partnerships with schools, fraternities, sororities, faith-based institutions, professional associations, and legacy organizations committed to the well-being of our children.
